The study traced the movement of carbon from carbon dioxide in the atmosphere into plants, and then into soils. These are the data used in a paper published in LAND (2022), titled "Soil organic carbon isotope tracing in sorghum under ambient CO2 and Free-Air CO2 Enrichment (FACE)" --- Experimental details are included in the Land publication and references therein. --------------------------------------------- ## Files and Folders "Leavitt-LAND2022-Sorghum FACE Air-Tank 13C data.xslx": stable carbon isotope composition of the commercial ("tank") CO2 used to elevate CO2 concentration above ambient, and carbon isotope composition of CO2 in the air above the enriched (FACE) and ambient (Control) plots for both the 1998 and 1999 experiments. "Leavitt-LAND2022-Sorghum Plant 13C data.xslx": stable carbon isotope composition of sorghum [leaf+stalk] whole-tissue samples pooled from several plants in each treatment for both the 1998 and 1999 experiments. "Leavitt-LAND2022-Sorghum FACE SOC and 13C data.xslx": stable carbon isotope composition of soil organic carbon (mainly mineral-associated carbon with some fine particulate carbon) in each treatment for both the 1998 and 1999 experiments. The percent organic carbon (%) in all the soil samples was also determined. --------------------------------------------- ## Materials & Methods Material and Methods are described in the Land (2022) paper. Data in each of the files is fairly self-explanatory. --------------------------------------------- ## Additional Notes The LAND publication is now available as open-access at https://doi.org/10.3390/land11020309 Leavitt, S.W.; Cheng, L.; Williams, D.G.; Brooks, T.; Kimball, B.A.; Pinter, P.J.; Wall, G.W.; Ottman, M.J.; Matthias, A.D.; Paul, E.A.; Thompson, T.L.; Adam, N.R.
