--------------------------------------------- # Supplementary data for "The north polar BU of Mars: An Amazonian record of surface processes and climate events" Corresponding Author: Stefano Nerozzi, University of Arizona Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, nerozzi@lpl.arizona.edu License: CC BY-NC 4.0 --------------------------------------------- ## Summary This repository contains the vector and raster products resulting from the analysis of radar profiles and visible imagery data of the BU (BU) in the Planum Boreum of Mars. The repository also contains impact crater mapping files (spatial crater count, SCC) generated during the geologic mapping phase via Crater Tools. The radar profiles and imagery data are publicly available on the Planetary Data System (https://pds.nasa.gov/). Please refer to the Data and Methods section of the manuscript for details on the analysis and processing procedures. The final products contained in this repository are in the form of geologic mapping vector files (shapefiles), radar mapping vector and raster files, and spatial crater count files. All vector and raster files use the following projection (projection information is stored in each file): North Polar Stereographic with IAU Mars 2000 datum --------------------------------------------- ## Files and Folders The following is a quick reference for the files contained in each archive #### "geologic_mapping_vector" contains the following shapefile data: - Geologic contacts (lines) - "geologic_contacts.shp" - Geologic units (polygons) - "geologic_units.shp" - Details of the contact between the cavi unit and the NPLD (lines) - "cavi_NPLD_contact.shp" - Rupēs unit strike and dip measurements and associated uncertainties (points) - "rupēs_unit_strikedip.shp" #### "radar_mapping_vector" contains the following shapefile data: - BU surface radar return elevation, divided by return characteristics (i.e., diffuse, mixed, sharp) (points) - "BU_diffuse.shp, BU_mixed.shp, BU_sharp.shp" - Cavi unit internal reflectors elevation (points) - "cavi_internal_[single digit from 1 to 8].shp" - Buried dune field elevation (points) - "dune_field.shp" - Contact between the rupēs and the cavi units (points) - "rupēs_cavi_contact.shp" #### "rasters" contains the following raster data in GeoTIFF format: - Planum Boreum interpolated basal surface elevation map - "VB_MS_gp10_topo.tif" - Planum Boreum interpolated basal surface residuals map - "VB_MS_gp10_residuals.tif" - BU and surrounding terrains elevation map - "BUVB_MS_topo.tif" - BU thickness map - "BU_thickness.tif" #### "CSFD" contains the following impact crater mapping files: - VBIU impact craters in Tenuis and Boreum Cavi - Rupēs unit impact craters in Hyperborea Lingula
