Provided abstract: This study argues for a finer typology of temporal adverbial clauses (TACs) and provides an alternative way to understand the correlation between internal syntax and external syntax of adverbial clauses in general. Presenting novel evidence from Cantonese, this study shows that a temporal operator may merge within TP or at the highest CP. The merge site not only determines whether operator movement is present, but also determines the attachment site of TACs to main clauses. --------------------------------------------- ## Additional Notes Links: - https://sites.google.com/view/wccfl2021/ This presentation is part of the 2021 West Coast Conference on Formal Linguistics collection, which is available here: https://doi.org/10.25422/azu.data.c.5325401
