Provided abstract: This presentation is an attempt to revive Chomsky’s LSLT (1955/1975) complex predicate approach to ECM under the neo-constructivist model of syntax (cf. Borer 2005). In particular, I argue that the ECM verb and the infinitive form a complex predicate in the LF component as a side-effect of the independently motivated head movement, and show that the proposed analysis can provide evidence against postulating an overt (either EPP- or Case-driven) Object Shift in ECM configurations. --------------------------------------------- ## Additional Notes Links: - https://sites.google.com/view/wccfl2021/ This presentation is part of the 2021 West Coast Conference on Formal Linguistics collection, which is available here: https://doi.org/10.25422/azu.data.c.5325401
