Provided abstract: Names are argued to consist of roots that are categorized by a distinct nominalizer, one that is incompatible with NumP. Before names can inflect for number, they must be recategorized as nouns, a process that blocks contextual allomorphy by introducing an additional cyclic head between Num and the root. The inflectional regularization that is observed with names (e.g., Childs, Freemans, Wolfs) is predicted by this model since Num cannot be in a local relation with the root of a name. --------------------------------------------- ## Additional Notes Links: - https://sites.google.com/view/wccfl2021/ This presentation is part of the 2021 West Coast Conference on Formal Linguistics collection, which is available here: https://doi.org/10.25422/azu.data.c.5325401
