Provided abstract: Ellipsis of the complement of negation in Hungarian is blocked when a portmanteau negative copula spans across the ellipsis boundary. The portmanteau is shown to be formed post-syntactically, meaning that the contents of ellipsis sites must be post-syntactically accessible, contra recent proposals that ellipsis is purely a syntactic or transfer operation. --------------------------------------------- ## Additional Notes Links: - https://sites.google.com/view/wccfl2021/ This presentation is part of the 2021 West Coast Conference on Formal Linguistics collection, which is available here: https://doi.org/10.25422/azu.data.c.5325401
