Provided abstract: It is the received view that only verbs including a stative component can be part of adjectival passives. However, we have identified a group of Spanish activity verbs (those of the type of perseguir ‘chase’) which, despite being atelic and fully dynamic, are found in adjectival passives involving a progressive reading; cf. Pedro está perseguido ‘Pedro is (being) chased’. We provide a formal account for the availability of these constructions that also explains their progressive denotation. --------------------------------------------- ## Additional Notes Links: - https://sites.google.com/view/wccfl2021/ This presentation is part of the 2021 West Coast Conference on Formal Linguistics collection, which is available here: https://doi.org/10.25422/azu.data.c.5325401
