I was born in 1981 in Rijeka (former Yugoslavia, now Croatia). I am a plant biologist fascinated by Evolution and Statistics, with a Ph.D. in Ecology obtained in 2012 at the University of Udine (Italy). My research interests lie in the areas of plant metal physiology and hyperaccumulation. I served as a postdoctoral research associate for more than ten years in five public universities and two research-oriented institutes in five countries. I was lucky enough to obtain the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship (H2020-MSCA-IF-2018-845234) for the 2019-2021 period. I published >20 peer-reviewed journal articles on plant-soil-metal interactions and the ecology of insects. I investigate environmental and genetic contributions to variation in leaf cadmium and zinc accumulation in Arabidopsis halleri. I am also involved in identifying new potential hyperaccumulators locally adapted to Arizona’s dry climate and their potential use in phytoremediation.
