Poster Presentation for "When roots become names: An issue of locality"

This poster was presented on 2021 April 8 - 11 at the 39th meeting of the West Coast Conference on Formal Linguistics.

Provided abstract:

Names are argued to consist of roots that are categorized by a distinct nominalizer, one that is incompatible with NumP. Before names can inflect for number, they must be recategorized as nouns, a process that blocks contextual allomorphy by introducing an additional cyclic head between Num and the root. The inflectional regularization that is observed with names (e.g., Childs, Freemans, Wolfs) is predicted by this model since Num cannot be in a local relation with the root of a name.
