Poster Presentation for "Prosodic evidence for an ellipsis-based approach to "either... or..." sentences"

poster

This poster was presented on 2021 April 8 - 11 at the 39th meeting of the West Coast Conference on Formal Linguistics.

Provided abstract:
This poster investigates the mapping between syntax and prosody, with "either…or…" sentences as a critical case study. There are two competing syntactic analyses for "either...or..." sentences. I present adjudicating evidence from a prosodic experiment, where prosodic boundaries in people's utterances are consistent with the predictions of one theory but not the other. I also argue that prosodic structure reflects syntactic structure more closely than some theories on mapping previously claimed.
