Animated gifs showing active surface processes on Mars using time series generated from orthorectified images from the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.

These gifs are supplemental material accompanying the paper "Revealing active Mars with HiRISE digital terrain models" submitted to Remote Sensing.

Animation_1_RSL.gif:  An animated HiRISE time-step sequence of recurring slope lineae (RSL) in Garni crater, Mars (11.51º S, 290.31º E). Note the slumping event along the south wall during Mars Year 32. See McEwen et al. (2013) and Chojnacki et al. (2016) for additional discussion.  Sun symbol shows illumination direction for each frame.

Animation_2_Dunes.gif: An animated 3-step sequence of high flux ripples, megaripples, and dunes adjacent to the north polar cap boundary (83.99º N, 233.22º E) using HiRISE orthoimages. See for Diniega et al. (2017) and Chojnacki et al. (2021) for additional discussion. Sun symbol shows illumination direction for each frame.
